In 2020, van Hoepen stepped up to the OK class, competing in prestigious events such as the European Karting Championship and the WSK Champions Cup, representing esteemed teams associated with Nico Rosberg and Charles Leclerc. The year 2021 brought a new challenge as Laurens continued his journey with Team Leclerc by Lennox moving into the fiercely competitive KZ2 category. His determination and skill were evident as he secured a commendable third place in the European Championship, proving his ability to excel at the highest levels of kart racing.
Transitioning into single-seaters, van Hoepen made an impactful debut in the Ultimate Cup Series' Challenge Monoplace class in 2021. Racing with Graff Racing, he dominated the latter half of the season, clinching victory in an impressive seven out of nine races and finishing on the podium in the remaining two. His performance secured him a third-place finish in the championship standings without competing in the full championsip, highlighting his natural talent and adaptability.
The following year, Laurens joined ART Grand Prix for the Formula Regional European Championship (FREC). Despite facing stiff competition, he consistently showcased his potential with multiple top-ten finishes, culminating in a commendable 21st place overall.
In 2023, van Hoepen started a dual campaign, beginning with the Formula Regional Oceania Championship before returning to FREC with ART Grand Prix. His season was punctuated by podium finishes, including a thrilling victory at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park winning the New Zeeland Grand Prix.
